Smuggler’s Notch usually opens for the season in early May. As of May 1, 2003, the portion of Vermont 108 that runs through Smuggler’s Notch was covered with 4 feet of ice and snow. It’s been a cold, snowy winter with a late thaw. State road authorities hope for a mid-May opening. (BFP, 5/1/03)
